Someone found the quote where Churchill uses colonialism to justify ethnic cleansing in Palestine. It's a doozy:

"Speaking at the Peel Commission in 1937, Winston Churchill said; “I do not admit that the dog in the manger has the final right to the manger, even though he may have lain there for a very long time. I do not admit that right. I do not admit, for instance, that a great wrong has been done to the Red Indians of America, or the black people of Australia. I do not admit that a wrong has been done to those people by the fact that a stronger race, a higher grade race, or, at any rate, a more worldly-wise race, to put it that way, has come in and taken their place.”

 
"A stronger race,  a higher grade race, or, at any rate, a more world-wise race [...] has come in and taken their place." The rub is, even after 70 years of genocide, Palestinians are still > 50% of the population in historic Palestine. That's why the killings continue. I've even seen Israeli populations referring to this as "mowing the lawn."

Is it any wonder Trump and his ilk can love Nazis and Israel at the same time?

I'm going to be very busy for the next little while. This week has been very stressful, and so I'm behind on a lot of the Things. I forgot to get the garbage taken out yesterday and had to scramble this morning to make it on time for pick up. The dish brush is a mess so it's going to take me longer to clean all the dishes which have piled up bc I was too tired to do them yesterday. Brain is in a spin but things are going well all in all.

We're starting mom's new med schedule today. It's a 4 week treatment plan. I have high hopes this will work to balance her out.

It's just... it's a lot to do. I learned that there was an agency that should have been sending a nurse to oversee her mental health all this while- since October. If they had, she wouldn't have developed bed sores and suffered so. They would have noticed her meds were too strong. :/ And now, basically, I'm being told I'm too competent so they don't want to send anyone since "you're there." -_-

From day one I told them my mental health is poor, that I'm overwhelmed. But the help I repeatedly asked for never came. I am glad she has her PSW and the wound nurse that comes twice, and once a week respectively. But the wounds nurse really should be coming more often. Especially if I'm also managing 6 medicines with 5 dose times, plus housekeeping, dishes, and meals.

Wow... This is a video from a survivor of Deir Yassin. I had no idea some of them fled to our village- Ein Karem. She describes seeing her grandfather killed as they fled there. They killed 47 members of her family.

The other day, I was reading Jaina: Tides of War before I went to bed. Specifically, I read the scene where the Stormwind fleet prepares to sail for Orgrimmar. Although, I don't believe it is mentioned in-game, yes, the Alliance attempted to attack and occupy Orgrimmar after the bombing of Theramore. Everyone's like "we should do one of two reasonable things" until Varian just goes "let's just occupy Orgrimmar- they'd never expect that!" and so, that's what happens. XD

Well, that's the plan, anyway. Clearly it doesn't work out. Also, Jaina- in a fit of genocidal rage, almost destroys the Alliance fleet along with everyone in Orgrimmar. But, anyway... Ahem. What I was focusing on was the scene where Varian formally leaves Stormwind in Anduin's keeping. In retrospect this has a lot of Legion-y correspondences. It also is one of the rare occasions where they show Anduin in his full priestly power. He has a wonderful ex tempore speech about how they must fight for justice, not vengeance, and to "keep their hearts a sanctuary" from hatred. Then he calls on the Light to validate what they do and it comes down so strongly that Varian is suprised at how it feels like a physical presence. Varian doesn't express it, but he's in awe of his son and finally seems to accept his vocation.

They talk to one another, and this is the equivalent of Varian's letter in Legion. But I thought... there was a leave-taking we didn't get to see, under very different circumstances. We know of only one thing that was said ("Wrynn must always rule in Stormwind"), and of course the letter implies there was much that was left unsaid.

So, I wrote the scene for myself. And I cried. And now I have this song in my head:
