...Oops. Urgh. I thought I could drabble for the [community profile] hc_bingo . >.> Welp... At least I got two drabbles in for the Wright-a-Thon?

They're all gen. No warnings. Only the first one is overtly shippy although I endorse readings that are asexually romantic as well. The rest can work as shippy too, if you'd like, especially the last one.

He Sees With New Eyes
Borrowing Phoenix Wright's magatama changes how Miles Edgeworth sees the world.

It's the Little Things
They can really add up if you're not careful.

When in Khura'in
Wow, Nick really liked provoking the queen, huh?

The Letter
Years later, Franziska von Karma sets the record straight in one case where her father presented false evidence to Miles Edgeworth.

My best friend requested a fic for her AU where Diego Armando married Mia and that Pearl Fey is their daughter. She wanted a scene where he holds her for the first time. I'll just quote from the email:

You know what he's like though...

Diego: ...That's one ugly kid.
Mia: *glare*
Diego: ...Wow. Are you sure she's done cooking? Maybe she should go back in.

It has come to my attention that the 2018 Wright-a-Thon starts this Saturday. I haven't participated in a fic-a-thon since ... 2013, iirc, when I wrote a ton of fics for a 6th Doctor community on Livejournal... But that was so much fun, I can't wait to see what this will be like. It's different because the Sixathon involved members of the comm leaving a few prompts that you'd fill specifically for that person, more like some of the bigger fic exchanges whereas the Wright-a-Thon, if I'm getting this right, is simply a sprint. There are 10 years of writing prompts to choose from, so they close down acceptance of new prompts for the duration and participants write as many fills as they like.

So I've been reading.. trying to read through the prompts (there are so many, I've only managed to get through two parts of it. There are more than 30 parts...). I shouldn't be surprised that Gourdy/Phoenix Wright tentacle sex is on the second page and yet... I mean, it's odd to look back in time, as it were, and see how the fandom was already "well, we're done here" in 2007. I thought I knew what crack fic looked like until I read that. I... I don't know if I can write crack fic ever again. I doubt my capacity to match that, honestly.

Thankfully there are a lot of gen prompts, so I won't be writing about Phoenix' aquatic love babby with a sea monster anytime soon.

Actually, I had started work on a new fill just before I realized the Wright-a-Thon was coming up. The prompt was very detailed, and the fill will likely take several chapters but the idea interested me. They wanted a deep dive character study for Franziska von Karma, in the form of a story spanning her childhood up to roughly her introduction to the game. She was to find one of the letters that Phoenix Wright wrote to her "little brother" Edgeworth (who is 7 years older than her) -- letters her father was secretly disposing of. She takes it out of curiosity, but becomes fixated on it, keeping it for years and then feeling conflicted when Edgeworth did the whole "prosecutor Edgeworth chooses death" thing.

She's a fascinating character, very conflicted... I think I'll enjoy this.

The prosecutor turned, surprised at the hesitant tap on her shoulder. The autumn sun was low in the sky, momentarily obscuring the figures standing together near the doors to the courthouse. She lifted a hand to shield her eyes. Under the drape of the mechlin lace that poured down from her sleeves, she caught a glimpse of a little girl. Their eyes met in that moment- Franziska's clear grey with the child's great dark brown. The prosecutor's hand instinctively rose, clutching near her wounded shoulder- even before she had been shot there, it was a habitual gesture to guard herself. There was something altogether new in those young eyes trained on her.

I'm reviving an ancient Livejournal fan fiction meme from 2009... Unlike last time, I think I'll write drabbles for all of the prompts instead of just a few here and there. 35 is way too much to do all at once, though, so also unlike last time, I'll be breaking it up. Maybe I'll do 5 at a time or something.

The way it works is we have a list of 12 characters from fandoms of my choice, and there's a prompt list which combines the characters in wacky situations or asks for descriptions of scenarios that would be fitting for them. It produced an incredible amount of crack the last time I did this, and it looks like we're headed for a lot of wacky ship stuff this time.

My characters for this round are:
  1. Franziska von Karma
  2. Simon Blackquill
  3. Shang Bu Huan
  4. Kay Faraday
  5. Miles Edgeworth
  6. 6th Doctor
  7. Alistair Therin
  8. Anduin Wrynn
  9. Phoenix Wright
  10. Lin Setsu A
  11. Connor RK800
  12. Sha Wu Sheng

One prompt is really unfair so far: what would 5 be arrested for? :P So, I think I'll treat that as Edgeworth being arrested for something he actually would do (I haven't decided if this would be a 'well, yes, I would do that... but I didn't!' situation or if he's totally caught red-handed doing shenanigans).

And the first five prompts are:

The other day, I was reading Jaina: Tides of War before I went to bed. Specifically, I read the scene where the Stormwind fleet prepares to sail for Orgrimmar. Although, I don't believe it is mentioned in-game, yes, the Alliance attempted to attack and occupy Orgrimmar after the bombing of Theramore. Everyone's like "we should do one of two reasonable things" until Varian just goes "let's just occupy Orgrimmar- they'd never expect that!" and so, that's what happens. XD

Well, that's the plan, anyway. Clearly it doesn't work out. Also, Jaina- in a fit of genocidal rage, almost destroys the Alliance fleet along with everyone in Orgrimmar. But, anyway... Ahem. What I was focusing on was the scene where Varian formally leaves Stormwind in Anduin's keeping. In retrospect this has a lot of Legion-y correspondences. It also is one of the rare occasions where they show Anduin in his full priestly power. He has a wonderful ex tempore speech about how they must fight for justice, not vengeance, and to "keep their hearts a sanctuary" from hatred. Then he calls on the Light to validate what they do and it comes down so strongly that Varian is suprised at how it feels like a physical presence. Varian doesn't express it, but he's in awe of his son and finally seems to accept his vocation.

They talk to one another, and this is the equivalent of Varian's letter in Legion. But I thought... there was a leave-taking we didn't get to see, under very different circumstances. We know of only one thing that was said ("Wrynn must always rule in Stormwind"), and of course the letter implies there was much that was left unsaid.

So, I wrote the scene for myself. And I cried. And now I have this song in my head:

Character: Rory Williams, 11th Doctor
Rating: G.
Word count: 100
Notes: For the [livejournal.com profile] dw100 prompt 371: armor
Summary: The Doctor has a plan. Rory isn’t sure he likes this.

‘You don’t spit polish that,’ complained Rory as the Doctor’s hanky fluttered past his face, over the dented breastplate. ‘I’m playing along, all right? Don’t make it worse.’ The Doctor rubbed intently at an old scuff mark on the metal, then flourished the hanky and returned it meditatively to his pocket.

‘That’ll do, Rory,’ he murmured appreciatively.

‘Okay, so the bronze will deflect those beams, but I don’t understand why the cape—‘

The Doctor quirked a small, rueful smile and placed his hands on Rory’s shoulders. ‘You’re my Trojan lamb: tough, metal outside, squishy fleecy softness on the inside!’

Just stopping in quickly before toiling in the kitchen dungeons. I expect to have a rough draft for a Doctor Who story finished by tonight. I need some beta readers, so if anyone would be interested in looking over a quite silly story with the 10th Doctor, please leave a comment. It will be around 1 000 words, if everything ties up neatly. I may not have a typed copy until tomorrow, but I'd still like to know if (and how many) people can take a look at it before it is posted.

It's called 'Last of the Time Lords' and it's a send up of many 10th Doctor tropes, but mostly being "The Last," following it to its natural conclusion (that someone would eventually set up a charity for the Doctor).

Iris Wildthyme is also in it.

Summary: The TARDIS decides that her pilot has something to learn. She takes the 6th Doctor and Tegan to a planet unfamiliar to both where they find themselves embroiled in an intrigue.

Since I have recently finished Relative Chronologies, the end of the beginning of the 'Valeyard-tries-again' arc, I am moving on to... Alexandria. The winner of the poll. *claps* And so, to kick us off, I am borrowing a tactic from my pomo for my 5 and Peri crackepic, and have made a teaser:

Thus:

Or maybe I'll just make silly teasers for all of my Fifth Doctor stories?

Yes, starring the 5th Doctor, Tegan Jovanka and Vislor Turlough in late Hellenistic Alexandria! Wooo! \o/ What fun this will be. It will be tricky. One of the main characters got torn to bits by an angry Christian mob in real life... But this is SO not historically accurate. You'll see when- or if- you read it. I will try not to get too crazy with details but I've already planned something that is about... a thousand years off in terms of chronology. Ah well! It will be FUNNY though. And making it funny is totally worth messing up early Renaissance history a little. It's only fan fiction. ^_^

If I could bring Catullus back from the dead so he could be Ovid's best friend, I can pull this one off. :P
